Krimmler Waterfalls
The highest waterfalls in Europe are also in the winter time an extraordinary natural experience.
The falls drop over a three-step cascade straight to the village of Krimml. In winter, ice-climbers enjoy climbing on the icy falls under the light of such a majestic illumination, that shows them in their great magnitude.
The Krimmler Waterfalls are accessible round the clock and admission is free during winter, but don’t forget to take good shoes!

Großglockner Hochalpenstraße

High mountain reservoirs Kaprun
The Kapruner reservoirs are one of the most imposing constructions of the Hohe Tauern and are opened from the end of May to the middle of October. Travel by bus from the car park at the Kesselfall Alpenhaus to the Lächwand Funicular Railway. There you can walk through the reservoirs or continue by bus. The "Limbergsperre" dam of the reservoir "Wasserfallboden" was built in 1951.

Glacier world in the Stubachtal Valley

Hochfeld Show Mine
The copper mine in the Obersulzbachtal Valley is also during the winter months a unique opportunity to spend a beautiful day. You can park your car at the Schiedhof Inn and walk along the „Sulzbachfalls“ for approximately 1/2 hour to the mine. Around 1500, the copper mine was mentioned in writing for the first time and 1,200 m of the 4 kilometres long gallery and shaft structure have been renovated and restored. Game and Leisure Park Ferleiten
Experience nature on the Großglocknerstraße not far from the tollhouse at 1,140m of altitude from the middle of May to the middle of November. Walk on pleasant paths through our wild park and get to know its very interesting Alpine animals. You can watch and take pictures of the game in close proximity. Dogs on a lead are permitted. The 20,000m² playground area is an exciting experience for big and small and it has free admission. With more than 40 different games to play, your children will spend a day full of experiences and fun.

Nationalparkzentrum Mittersill
From Summer 2007 onwards, you will find everything concerning the unique adventure world of the Hohe Tauern National Park here, in the Mittersill National Park Centre. Numerous "Experience" stops will take you on a walking tour through the Hohe Tauern and give you the opportunity to learn about and understand the exceptional diversity on offer. Its highlights are: an Eagle´s Flight panorama, a 3D computer animation including the formation of the ´Window on the Tauern´, the Avalanche-Waterfall Dome, and the World of Glaciers. Felberturmmuseum Mittersill
The local history museum along with the Felber Tower and the Felber Church from the 12th century, and together with the Häusl farmhouse in Kaprun and the oldest school in Upper Pinzgau constitute a genuine museum area. Museum Bramberg
Visit this large 14th century farmhouse, with its small open-air courtyard. It houses the largest mineral exhibition in Salzburg (more than 520 exhibits), with fascinating emerald bearing layers and other minerals from the Hohe Tauern mountain world! Its handicrafts, beekeeping, traditions, religious art and the open-air area make the museum one of the region´s gems.
